Water for all People

World Water Day - March 22, 2005
Water Decade Water for All People - 2005-2015 Launched at United Nations in New York City
Reception hosted by Republic of Tajikistan

The World Water Rescue Foundation was conceived in February of 1999 by Philip Sauers in Desert Hot Springs, California with a Mission Statement mandate to develope a successful Public Awareness Campaign dedicated to protecting and ensuring the fundamental right of access to safe drinking Water for All People.

On February 26, 1999 Desert Hot Springs won the coveted Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting contest 1st Place Gold Medal for the world's best tasting Municipal Tap Water.

That moment in water history was the beginning of over six years of the actual formation of WWRF into a popular non-profit foundation. WWRF worked to select exceptionally well qualified volunteer directors, officers and advisory board members. WWRF developed and is very proud to publish our website as a comprehensive one-stop source for research of any and all water-related interests and news. WWRF selected quality links provides, efficient, retrievable worldwide water information and commentary, free of charge. The WWRF website is considered the hallmark of water repositories.

WWRF has networked closely with the United Nations, environmental and entertainment organizations working to defend our precious world freshwater resources. WWRF has sponsored many receptions networking with key UN Ambassadors to assist in adopting and implementing our goal of worldwide recognition of the "International Year of Freshwater - 2003" and the "International Decade for Action, Water for Life" - 2005 - 2015."

The "Water Decade 2005 - 2015" mandate underscores the furtherance of international cooperation in order to address the urgent water-related goals contained in the Millennium Declaration, namely, to cut in half by the year 2015 the proportion of people who are unable to reach or afford safe drinking water. This challance, and meeting this serious goal, is one of the most noble committments facing humanity.

Both the "International Year of Freshwater - 2003" and the "Water Decade 2005 - 2015" were initiatives of the Republic of Tajikistan. These two United Nations resolutions were tirelessly spearheaded by the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan to the United Nations, H.E. Ambassador Rashid Alimov.

It was with honor that WWRF gratefully acknowledged Ambassador Alimov's valuable support and cooperation with WWRF by naming him our WWRF Person of the Year for 2003. WWRF Spokesperson, David Carradine, presented Mr. Ambassador with our WWRF "Iris Award" for his outstanding contribution to the global water agenda at our 1st "Water For All People" Gala on June 10, 2004 in Desert Hot Springs, California.

The "Water Decade 2005 - 2015" grants us ten more years to work together to assure the availability of the priceless gift of freshwater. Let us think together of how we can save water - this invaluable gift of God - for the future generations.

The WWRF Logo symbolizes a drop of water that has embedded within it, our Blue Planet. Let us do everything possible to protect all the drops of water. Let us pool our efforts in hopes of bringing about a much needed Blue Revolution Public Awareness Campaign.

Water for All People

Why Tajikistan?

This was not accidental. About two thousand and five hundred rivers originate in Tajikistan. Their total length is ninety thousand kilometers, which is two and a half times as much as the Earth's circumference. There are over one thousand and three hundred lakes in Tajikistan, with a total amount of water equal to forty six cubic kilometers. The tallest dam in the world, three hundred and thirty meters high, is also located in Tajikistan. It forms one of nine water reservoirs, that contain another twelve cubic kilometers of freshwater. Tajikistan boasts one of the largest per capita water supplies in the world, thirteen thousand cubic meters per capita. Tajikistan provides more than fifty per cent of the total water amount of the Aral Sea basin.
