![]() ![]() Message of UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan on World Water Day 2001 ![]() Secretary-General Kofi Annan coined the phrase "Water For All People" in his message on World Water Day 2001, and WWRF has adopted it as our Motto. These four simple words appropriately spell out the WWRF Mission Statement. The aim of the WWRF Motto, "Water For All People", is to give a short basic mantra reminding the public of the urgent need to preserve and protect the precious water supply of this planet. Like a Mantra, a Motto is defined as a "great suggestion"; a mystical formula of invocation which when repeated is a powerful instrument for purifying, strengthening, and enlightening the mind. The Sanskrit word Mantra is from the root man, to think, and the suffix, tra, which comes from trai, means, "to protect or free from bondage". Therefore, Mantra means "the thought that liberates and protects". Like a slogan, a Motto is a statement of such merit that it is worthy of continuous repetition. Is worthwhile for the public to remember. Is phrased in such a way that the public is likely to remember it. The purpose of the WWRF Motto is to leave a message in the minds of the public.
